MULTIFARIOUS CHARITABLE-WELFARE ACTIVITIES
Education Sponsorship and Stipends
We have started sponsoring education of talented and selected students at various institutions of learning (school, college and higher education) since 01 July, 2021. Three (03) students, one studying at the Faisalabad National Textile University, the other undergoing Chartered Accountancy Certification, and the third is a college student, are being supported, at the present.
Dry Rations, Fresh Meat and Cooked Food-Meals
The total amount utilized since the Year 2010-2011 till date amounts to Rs.7,646,009.00 (Rupees seven million six hundred forty-six thousand and nine). Though allocation of the above-mentioned amount, we certainly do not consider adequate in view of the economic hardship being faced by the poor due to the prevalent economic environment vis-à-vis rising costs and inflation.
Subsistence-Sustenance Allowance and Monetary Assistance
Whenever possible, we support people in need of monetary assistance, which is not ‘Qarza-eHasna’. Since the Year 2010-2011, we have provided Rs.7,915,888.00 (Rupees seven million nine hundred fifteen thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight) to various people to set-up some small business ventures to earn their livelihood and sustain their families.
Warm Clothing and Blankets for Winters and Light Clothing for
Summers
We have only been able to provide limited support to people. Our total assistance to cover the previous years and the period, 01 July, 2021 to 30 June, 2022, is likely to be only Rs.1.0 Million (Rupees one million). We hope and pray to Allah Almighty that we perform better in the future.
‘Qarza-e-Hasna’
Since the Year 2018, we have provided ‘Qarza-e-Hasna’ amounting to approximately Rs.2.0 Million (Rupees two million) to eight (08) people for their essential needs. Return of the ‘Qarza’ by each is spread over a fairly long period of time through affordable and easy installments each month. This is considered a useful scheme to alleviate financial problems of various kinds, faced by people.
Renovation of Houses
During this financial year, we have so far been able to provide Rs.45,000.00 (Rupees forty-five thousand) to one needy person. Since 2010-2011 till date, Rs.1,360,000 (Rupees one million three
hundred and sixty thousand) have been expended towards this welfare measure.
Assistance for Marriages
Since 2010-2011, we have provided Rs.1,558,100.00 (Rupees one million five hundred fifty-eight thousand and one hundred) to the needy on their marriages.
Individually Displaced Persons (IDPs), North Waziristan
Rs.300,000.00 (Rupees three hundred thousand) were contributed towards rehabilitation of the IDPs of North Waziristan, in support of the campaign launched by the Government of Pakistan,
during the Year 2014-2015
Donation to Flood Affected People in Southern Punjab
Rs.300,000.00 (Rupees three hundred thousand) were contributed towards rehabilitation of the flood affected people in Southern Punjab during the Year 2014-2015.
Printing and Distribution of QURANIC SIPARAAHS, PUNJ-SURAHS,
QURANIC DUAS and Islamic Literature
Since 2010-2011, we have provided Rs.1,558,100.00 (Rupees one million five hundred fifty-eight thousand and one hundred) to the needy on their marriages.
Miscellaneous Projects
Rs.1,450,000.00 (Rupees one million four hundred and fifty thousand) were donated to the following charity organizations:
- A Khadija Memorial Trust Hospital, Faisalabad. Rs.700,000.00 (Rupees seven hundred thousand) during the period, 2013-2015.
- B National Women Uplift Association (NWUA), Rawalpindi Cantonment.Rs.250,000.00 (Rupees two hundred and fifty thousand) during the period, 2012-2014.
- C PAKEEZAH Charity and Welfare Organization, Lahore. Rs.300,000.00 (Rupees three hundred thousand) since August, 2021 till date. We hope to continue donating Rs.50,000.00 (Rupees fifty thousand) per month in the future as well.
- D SABA Aslam Education and Welfare Trust, Rawalpindi. Rs.100,000,00 (Rupees one hundred thousand) during the period, 2011-2012.
- E Donation Towards Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund. Rs.100,000.00 (Rupees one hundred thousand) were donated during the Year 2019 towards the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams Fund instituted by the Government of Pakistan.
MISCELLANEOUS ACTIVITIES
Endowment Fund Investment in Al-Meezan Investment Management Limited, Islamabad
y 20 March, 2022, we shall have deposited Rs.35.00 Million (Rupees thirty-five million) in Al-Meezan. By 30 August, 2023, we hope to deposit additional Rs.50.0 Million (Rupees fifty million),making the total investment of Rs.85.0 Million (Rupees eighty-five million) in Al-Meezan. We intend leaving this amount deposited in Al-Meezan for 02 (two) years, from 20 March, 2022 to 30 7June, 2024. Working on the present profit rates announced by the Government of Pakistan, we shall hopefully have invested a total amount of Rs.97,600,000.00 (Rupees ninety seven million six hundred thousand; 09 Crore and 76 Lac) invested with Al-Meezan, Insha-Allah. This amount includes the ‘principal amount’ and the ‘accumulated profit’ but does not include Government taxes. With the profit margin accrued on the ‘principal amount’ each year with effect from 20 March,2022 to 01July, 2024, AAKF will be in a fairly happy position to undertake welfare and charitable activities, and to continually build-up as well it’s ‘Endowment Fund’.
Renovation of the AAMC Building and Provision of Solar System
Rs.1.5 Million (Rupees one point five million) have been expended on renovation, uplift and maintenance of the AAMC Building this year. This amount was not spent out of the ‘Zakat-Sadaqa’ donations-contributions made by donors for various charitable-welfare activities but donated by some family members for this very specific purpose. May Allah Almighty bless them with His mercy, AJR and SAWAB for this act of piety. Dr. Waheed Akbar Khan has indicated gifting 10 KVA Solar System, costing approximately Rs.1.0 Million (Rupees one million), to the AAMC sometimes during the coming summers. Registration With the Government of Punjab
Action has been initiated to immediately register AAKF with the Punjab Charity Commission (Punjab Charity Act, 2022) in accordance with the relevant and applicable law and under the policy guidelines, rules and regulations laid down by the Government of Punjab.
Tax Exemption by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)
As per the Government of Pakistan policy, rules and regulations, to obtain tax exemption from the FBR, AAKF must be registered with the Pakistan Centre of Philanthropy (PCP) and recommended
by them for tax exemption. We intend launching the process of registration with the PCP very soon. We have also initiated the process to obtain NTN (National Tax Number) for AAKF, which is essential for registration with the PCP.
Transfer of AAMC Land to AAKF Ownership
The FARD (and mutation) approving transfer by the Revenue Department, Faisalabad of 3.0 (three) Kanals land donated by Ambassador (Retired) Afzal Akbar Khan, on which AAMC Building
stands, to ownership of AAKF is in our possession. May Allah Almighty bless him and his family
with His mercy, AJR and SAWAB for this act of piety.
Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association
Based on our last 12 (twelve) years’ working experience since establishment of AAKF, we intend revisiting and updating the AAKF Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association. This will include the enhanced scope of AAKF welfare and charitable activities, we have been undertaking, and will undertake each year in the future as well.
REQUEST FOR DONATIONS-CONTRIBUTIONS
Strategic Vision, 2010-2011
Our ultimate mission, aim and objective remains to not only spread our charitable activities in the rest of the Punjab Province but, depending on our resources, to the rest of the country as well. In much later timeframe, which we very well do understand and appreciate cannot certainly be visualized, at this point in time, we hope and pray to Allah Almighty, the posterity of (Late) Chaudhary and Begum Ali Akbar Khan, will be able to set-up Medical and Education Cities at Faisalabad. Totally free education and medical and healthcare facilities will be provided in these twin cities (medical and education) to serve the cause of the underprivileged and the deprived classes of our society and to benefit and uplift them, only to please Allah Almighty. Insha-Allah.
Contributions-Donations
It is a noble cause ordained in the Holy Quran for all devotees to undertake charitable and welfare activities for the poor. We, therefore, request you all to kindly contribute whatever possible as ‘Zakat, Sadaqaat-e-Nawafil, Sadaqaat, Hadiyaat, and Attiyaat’ towards AAKF during the sacred month of ‘Ramadan-ul-Mubarak’, 2022 and at any appropriate time of the year you consider best. Your open-hearted donations and contributions towards meeting the yearly operational and running costs and towards the ‘Endowment Fund’ as well will be greatly appreciated. It will also go a long way to please Allah Almighty for which He shall Insha-Allah surely reward you immensely
